Submission Policy for Locentry
Effective Date: March 15, 2026
Locentry accepts business and organization submissions for review and possible inclusion in the directory. Submission of a listing does not guarantee publication. All submissions are subject to editorial review, moderation, verification checks where applicable, and compliance with Locentry policies.
1. Purpose
Locentry is a moderated directory. The purpose of the submission process is to allow businesses, organizations, and authorized representatives to suggest listings or updates for public review.
2. Review and Publication
All submitted listings, edits, and supporting details are placed into review before publication.
Locentry may:
- approve a submission
- reject a submission
- request clarification or corrections
- edit formatting, spelling, grammar, categorization, and directory style
- shorten, rewrite, or remove descriptions to match Locentry editorial standards
- hold a submission for additional verification
- remove a submission from review without publication
Locentry is not required to publish any submission.
3. Eligible Listings
Submissions may be accepted for:
- businesses
- nonprofits
- professional offices
- stores
- service providers
- local organizations
- public facing entities relevant to directory users
Listings may be rejected if they are incomplete, misleading, unverified, irrelevant to the directory, or otherwise unsuitable for publication.
4. Prohibited Content
The following may not be submitted:
- false, misleading, or impersonated business information
- listings for businesses that do not exist
- keyword stuffing
- promotional slogans, exaggerated claims, or marketing copy presented as description text
- obscene, harassing, defamatory, or unlawful content
- malware links, deceptive redirects, or unsafe URLs
- duplicate listings for the same entity unless explicitly allowed by Locentry's structure
- submissions that infringe intellectual property or privacy rights
- submissions made without authority where authority is reasonably required
- content intended primarily to manipulate search rankings rather than inform users
5. Description Standards
Listing descriptions must be factual, brief, and neutral.
Descriptions should:
- identify what the business or organization is
- describe products, services, or functions in plain terms
- avoid hype, calls to action, or promotional language
- avoid unverifiable claims
- avoid unnecessary repetition
Locentry may rewrite all submitted descriptions to match directory style.
6. Required and Recommended Information
A submission should include, where available:
- business or organization name
- street address
- city
- state
- ZIP code
- phone number
- website
- category
- short factual description
- longer factual description if useful
- source or verification notes if applicable
Missing information may delay review or prevent publication.
7. Accuracy and Authority
The person submitting a listing is responsible for the accuracy of the submitted information.
By submitting, you represent that:
- the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge
- you have the right to submit the information
- you are authorized to act on behalf of the business where such authority is relevant
- the submission does not violate any law or third party right
8. Verification and Edits
Locentry may use public sources, business websites, maps, directory records, phone verification, or other reasonable means to verify listing information.
Locentry may:
- correct formatting
- normalize phone numbers, URLs, and addresses
- merge duplicate records
- revise categories
- add or remove fields
- mark a listing as unverified, verified, claimed, sponsored, pending, or another status as appropriate
9. Sponsorship and Paid Placement
Paid placement, sponsorship, or enhanced visibility, if offered, does not guarantee immunity from moderation. Sponsored listings must still comply with Locentry standards and may be labeled accordingly.
10. Multiple Locations
Where supported by the platform, one business may be represented with multiple locations under a primary listing or another approved structure. Locentry may decide how location data is displayed in order to reduce duplication and improve clarity.
11. Rejection and Removal
Locentry may reject or remove listings for any reason consistent with site policies, including:
- inaccuracy
- outdated information
- policy violations
- unresolved ownership disputes
- legal complaints
- abandoned or duplicate records
- low quality or unverifiable submissions
12. No Guarantee of Ranking or Traffic
Submission does not guarantee publication, prominence, traffic, ranking, leads, customer activity, or search performance.
13. Changes to Submitted Content
By submitting content, you grant Locentry a non exclusive right to store, review, format, edit, display, and publish the submitted information in connection with the directory and related services, subject to the site Terms and Privacy Policy.
14. Appeals and Questions
Questions about submissions may be sent through the contact method provided on the site. Locentry may, but is not required to, reconsider rejected or removed submissions.
15. Policy Updates
Locentry may update this Submission Policy from time to time. Continued use of the submission process after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
